Gunnison. Blue Mesa Lake

One of the main reasons that we go to Gunnison in the summer is to go fishing for kokanee salmon and lake trout on Blue Mesa Lake.  It is a beautiful lake on the west side of Gunnison.  The water is really cold but the view is spectacular!  We usually get up really early to go out on the lake, but because of Wiley and Van I didn't go out as early.  We had a pretty good week of fishing...lots of cow bell, flasher, snubber and other funny talk about different types of lures.  The bait of choice is corn, sprayed with a little bit of WD-40.  I know it all sounds crazy!  Here are some of our lake pictures!

Wiley waiting to get the bait in the water!  Yes...he is in his jammies because that was the warmest thing I brought for him to wear!
